On behalf of the Board of Directors for the Lawrence Apple Users’ Group 2.0 I’m delighted to announce our new meeting space:

Douglas County Senior Services at 745 Vermont Street. Below is a picture of the building’s front as well as an approximate Google Map.

A special thanks goes out to Tina Roberts( Senior Wheels Program Administrator, Development for Douglas County Senior Services) as well as board member Bruce Sergeant and his wife Julie.

We appreciate your patience. Your feedback to our surveys and requests were very helpful. Our focus was a meeting space that we could schedule on a consistent basis, had good parking, had Wi-Fi access, and had a meeting space conducive to meetings.

Many suggested public facilities such as the public library, the hospital, as well as various rec facilities. Most will only schedule 3 months in advance. Meeting at restaurants we determined was undesirable due to noise as well requirements to purchase food. These restaurants also could not guarantee us a regular schedule.

DCSS was a great fit because we are right downtown and parking should be plentiful along with great places nearby to eat. Local Burger is right across the street and Esquina, Tellers, and the Burger stand are a block away. Food WILL be allowed in the room, but we’ll of course need to be respectful and clean up afterwards. We’ll have room to grow in the facility. Initially we’ll meet downstairs in a larger conference room and then when necessary, we’ll have space upstairs in a multi-purpose room.
